We are... THE HAVENGUARD

It is our first mission as the Havenguard to create a great Haven, a gathering place for misfits and loners to find brotherhood and fellowship, for artists and musicians of all skill-levels to create and grow together, for gamers to be comrades, for otaku to be strange and unashamed. That is our first mission.

The Guard is itself made of those men who would dare to pour themselves into the foundation of such a vision. We are rooted firmly in the Unmoving, as close as brothers to one another, and actively in search of those who would become a part of this whole crazy thing. We are ourselves the founding stone of the community we seek to house. We may be mad, but this dream we will not let go.

While we share many interests within our organization, it is truly our strong loyalty, our shared values, and our diversity as individuals that have brought us together as a group with a purpose. Our personal philosophies are varied, and our tastes are not at all homogenous, but there are certain ideas we hold higher than individual preference,

These are the words whose meaning is sacred to us, the Havenguard:

HONOR

In an age where it is taught that a man's first goal in life is his own happiness, his own wealth and glory, there is little room for a thing like Honor. To have Honor is to have a higher goal or standard than merely what will find personal happiness.

AWESOME

Found in nature, in art, in history, and in thought, Awesome is that thing which when found will remove you from yourself (if even for an instance) by its beyondness. It is both humbling and inspiring. To see the Awesome in the world is to see beyond oneself and the temporal.

BROTHERHOOD

Everyone strives for acceptance. Real brotherhood not only is comprised of acceptance for one another, but also holding one another to a higher standard.

What exactly is the plan?

At present, we are in the process of obtaining status as a nonprofit organization. Once this is accomplished, grant applications will be sent in, and we will seek to gain support from other sources. When enough resouces have been gathered, a plot of land will be bought, and construction will begin. Construction will be multistage, to allow for facility use earlier on, and expansion at later times. Is this all vague? Yes. We don't know what the future holds, and we won't until we get there. Until then, we drive ahead.

Furthermore, throughout the course laid out above, we will be organizing events, gatherings, and trips to bring our kind together. These will be posted on the Newsboard, and written on banners hung throughout the Fredericksburg region. If possible, we will construct a Batsignal-like device. We must band together!

Why Fredericksburg, Virginia?

The reasons for this as our staging ground are many in number, some obvious, some less so. Geographically, the town of Fredericksburg is right off of I95, located right between Washington DC and Richmond; a prime location indeed. It is also a heavily populated region, yet it offers little in the way of culture. Many who live here desire more than the endless fields of commercial businesses that cover the land. Lastly, Fredericksburg is the place where the Guard was formed, and this is where we feel we must do our work.

So how would one go about helping?

There are many ways in which anyone who seeks to help can do so. As with most things, donations of money are the simplest way to contribute, as all things require the stuff in this world. If you are not inclined to lighten your wallet (or even if you are), you can spread word of our cause and our brotherhood to anyone who might be interested. Also, feel free to contact the Guard or post in the forum with ideas or encouragment. Both are highly appreciated.

Where are the questions above each of these paragraphs coming from?

I'm making them up, to inform the readers. In this way, questions one might ask when reading will already have their answers provided.

Isn't that kinda pretentious?

Yeah, I guess so.
